AMSTERDAM, September 2026 — CG Global Entertainment Limited (CGGE) sponsored the Blender Conference 2026 (BCON 2026) at Felix Meritis in Amsterdam from 23 to 25 September, sending a four-day delegation to study the conference's operating model and introduce BCON Shenzhen 2026, which runs 28–29 November in Shenzhen.

Why CGGE joined BCON 2026 as a sponsor
An open-source ecosystem is inherited, not launched. The delegation travelled to Amsterdam on a single premise: direct exposure to core developer culture is the fastest way to understand what makes BCON work, and what has to carry over to Shenzhen intact.
Introducing BCON Shenzhen 2026 at the Felix Meritis Marketplace
CGGE hosted a booth at the Felix Meritis Marketplace and delivered a lightning talk introducing BCON Shenzhen 2026. Over three days the team met open-source developers, studio leads and educators as the representative of China's Blender community, which accounts for roughly 14% of Blender users worldwide, linking China's creative and technology clusters directly to the project's core contributors.
The booth also introduced the International Alliance of Blender Educators (IABE), CGGE's credentialing framework for Blender education, to institutions recruiting partners for the coming academic year.

BCON Shenzhen 2026 sits inside International Creative Intelligence Week (ICI Week), held 26–30 November across Shenzhen and the Greater Bay Area under the theme "Nurture Creative Dreams, Unlock Open Worlds." The week also carries the International Artificial Intelligence and Creativity Conference (IAICC) and the 2026 International Creativity Competition.
Talk highlights: GPU internals, NPR pipelines and procedural design
Sessions ranged from low-level GPU mechanics to high-level parametric design. In How We Built the BCON26 Visual Identity, the team behind the conference's branding deconstructed real-time procedural layout rules and parametric asset generation.
Blender Studio unpacked production lessons from Singularity, its first 4K HDR open movie, covering non-photorealistic rendering (NPR), painterly shader pipelines and open-source studio tracking.
Deep-dive sessions tackled viewport buffer management in The Journey of a Pixel, modular character rigging in CloudRig, and volumetric microscopy modelling in SciExplorer: From Microscopy Data to Interactive Scientific Visualisation, where Alisa Ovsiannikova demonstrated 3D engines bridging raw scientific data and interactive research.

Industry, academia and research: CGGE's collaborative model
At the day-three education community meeting, the delegation presented CGGE's industry–academia–research system through three case studies.
Industry. ICI Week, the landmark event of the year, bringing IAICC, BCON Shenzhen 2026 and the International Creativity Competition under one programme.

Academia. Partnerships with Hong Kong institutions and universities. The Spark — the Future Creators AI × Blender International Creativity Summer Camp — ran five full-time days on the HKMU campus in August 2026 for more than 20 students aged 12 to 18, taught in English, co-branded with the HKMU Future Centre and certified jointly by HKMU and Krystal Institute. Participants travelled from as far as Mexico and Senegal.

Research. Outreach programmes and cross-media IP projects cultivating 3D and animation talent across Hong Kong and Mainland China.

Inside Blender Headquarters
The mission closed on day four at Blender Headquarters, where 3D artists, designers, creators and core developers gathered informally for a studio walk, an unguarded look at Blender's daily creative rhythm and its open culture.

Quote
"Software alone does not sustain an open-source ecosystem," said Timothy Tan, Director of Partnership & Operations at CGGE. "What we are carrying from Amsterdam to Shenzhen is the culture: the willingness to show unfinished work, to teach in public, and to treat every contributor as a peer. The talks get recorded. That part does not."
Strategic outlook: a four-stage flywheel
Studying the operational DNA of BCON Amsterdam and Blender Headquarters has sharpened CGGE's long-term growth model, a four-stage flywheel:
1. Local training and credentials — delivered through IABE credentials
2. IP and studio production — animation projects with studios worldwide
3. Overseas expansion — BCON and other global open-source events
4. Platform consolidation — the OriginCG ecosystem
Open-source momentum requires inherited culture, standardised credentials and scalable infrastructure. Ahead of IAICC and BCON Shenzhen 2026, CGGE continues to build the platform connecting the Chinese and global Blender communities.
